Howard Hughes and The Woodlands Township would like to thank our corporate partners for their support of The Woodlands 50th Anniversary celebration. In this series, we highlight our partners and the positive impact they make in our community throughout the year.

Woodforest National Bank has been giving back to The Woodlands community since its inception in 1980. We are thankful for the positive impact they have made and are making in the lives of our residents. We are also thankful for their commitment and partnership in The Woodlands 50thAnniversary Celebration.

Woodforest National Bank moved their corporate headquarters to The Woodlands in 1999. As one of the strongest community banks in the nation, it focuses on building relationships to better serve their customers and community. Living and working in the same community gives the opportunity to strengthen those bonds.

“We had a strong desire to be in a community where we could raise our kids from kindergarten through high school,” responded Robert E. Marling, Chairman, Woodforest National Bank when asked why the company chose The Woodlands to expand its footprint in Texas.

Those sentiments are echoed frequently by residents, as The Woodlands is a special place where individuals, families, and companies, like Woodforest National Bank, are proud to call The Woodlands home. “We are surrounded by incredible schools, and an abundant number of parks and trails, along with safe neighborhoods and thriving companies of all sizes,” Marling shared.

The Woodforest Charitable Foundation

The Woodforest family demonstrates its commitment to the community in many ways through The Woodforest Charitable Foundation, which was created in 2005 to support the community that has been an integral part of their success. To date, it has contributed to more than 90 charitable organizations and non-profit organizations and gifted nearly $34 million.

In addition, the Woodforest family is committed to the community in many ways including staying involved with nonprofit organizations, such as Interfaith of The Woodlands (founded by George Mitchell), as well as The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, home to the Woodforest Bank Club. Their team also regularly facilitates financial education to individuals and families.

Woodforest’s outreach makes a lasting impression in the community at large and enriches the lives of those in need. “With hundreds of employees who work and live in The Woodlands, Woodforest is proud to participate in many of the events held year-round in The Woodlands,” said Marling.

Choosing to honor the George Mitchell Family, and all the people who helped make his vision come true was the motivation to become a sponsor of The Woodlands 50th Celebration. “Woodforest is excited to congratulate The Woodlands on this milestone anniversary! It is a distinct honor to be a part of this thriving community, and to experience its continued growth and success. We look forward to serving our neighbors, businesses, and associates for years to come,” said Marling.

Thank you, Woodforest National Bank, for your spirit of generosity!
