The Woodlander — Celebrating Modern Living in The Woodlands
Dear Woodlander Readers,
Time flies when you are having fun! January marks the 21st month anniversary for The Woodlander, a digital journal about The Woodlands, published by The Howard Hughes Corporation.
The Woodlander was created to highlight the incredible array of amenities and hidden gems of The Woodlands by saluting our area’s art and architecture, health & wellness, business innovation and technology, events and charitable giving, shops and restaurants, food and travel and the abundance of nature celebrated in our community.
“We had a vision to create an online journal to showcase our extraordinary community,” explains Kim Phillips, Vice President of Marketing for Howard Hughes. “The Woodlands offers so much for residents and businesses, and we wanted to capture and highlight the beauty and wonderful amenities that make our community so special.”
To illuminate the spirit of The Woodlands, The Howard Hughes Corporation approached local arts and culture writer Nickole Kerner Bobley to be our lead Content Curator. Raised in The Woodlands in the 1980s, she had moved away after high school for college and career and recently returned from the east coast with her own young family. We loved the idea of seeing The Woodlands through the eyes of a storyteller who grew up here as a child, but who was now rediscovering it 30 years later as an adult.
“It was a dream job—to be hired to find, write and produce photography for fresh stories that in essence would be a series of love letters to my beloved hometown. I couldn’t wait to get started!” beamed Kerner Bobley. “We approached top area photographers, including Julie Soefer, Joan Tilton and members of our local photography clubs, and together, launched The Woodlander!”
Before we move forward into 2020 and share our new batch of stories about our community, we wanted to take a look back.
For the month of January, we’ll be showcasing a “Best of The Woodlander” to encore past stories that resonated with our readers and followers. We hope you enjoy it!
Warmest regards,
