The Woodlands® Development Companyannounced today that its two Houston master planned communities - Bridgeland® and The Woodlands - garnered four prestigious awards at the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Annual Gala held on Saturday, October 1, 2016. The GHBA hosts its Houston’s Best PRISM Awards competition each year to identify the real estate industry’s top builders, developers and marketers. Upon entering, contestants are evaluated, judged and ultimately selected by industry professionals from across the U.S.

"The Howard Hughes Corporation is thrilled to be honored by its peers in the real estate marketing industry for Bridgeland and The Woodlands, two of the most acclaimed master planned communities in Houston,” said Tim Welbes, Co-President of The Woodlands Development Company. "The Woodlands and Bridgeland are proud to offer an exceptional lifestyle to residents, the businesses and other institutions located in these communities.”

Bridgeland was recognized in several developer categories. "We’ve Arrived,” a commercial production which coincided with the Grand Opening of Hidden Creek - the newest community within Bridgeland boasting 1,000 homesites set along 142 acres of lakes and waterways - won  "Best TV/Video Promotion of the Year.” The ninth annual Nature Fest, which is a festival committed to the environment and ecosystems in Bridgeland, won "Best Event of the Year.”  Annually, approximately 12,000 residents and visitors attend Nature Fest. The 60-inch touch-screen plasma map which showcases the regional perspective of the development as well as individual homesites in the Bridgeland Welcome Center won   for  "Best Interactive Point of Sale.”

The Woodlands received the "Humanitarian of the Year” award. Over the course of the community’s 42-year development, The Woodlands Development Company, has become an invaluable community partner, donating to several nonprofit organizations including The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, Interfaith of The Woodlands, Montgomery County Youth Services, United Way and many more. Since 1977, The Woodlands and its sponsors have given away over 1.4 million free tree seedlings at Arbor Day. The company also plants over 3,500 trees each year as part of its ongoing reforestation plan and recycles an estimated 400 cubic yards of organic waste into mulch, rather than putting it in a landfill. It also annually plants nearly 1,000 pounds of wildflowers and recently helped give away over 50,000 free wildflower seed packets at The Woodlands Wildflower Festival.

Darling Homes, which offers new homes in Bridgeland and The Woodlands, took home the 2016 Houston’s Best PRISM Grand Award – "Volume Builder.”  The Frankel® Building Group, which features new homes in The Woodlands, won Houston’s Best PRISM Grand Award – "Custom Builder.”

"We are thrilled that two homebuilders, Darling Homes and the Frankel Building Group, received Grand Awards from the Greater Houston Builders Association. Many of the acclaimed builders who highlight new homes in Bridgeland and The Woodlands also received accolades at the award ceremony,” said Heath Melton, Vice President, Master Planned Communities, Residential for The Woodlands Development Company. "Our builders showcase an assortment of new homes at varied price ranges, adding to the uniqueness of both master planned communities.”
