Throughout the villages and commercial centers of The Woodlands, outdoor sculptures provide a cultural counterpoint to the natural forested beauty of the community. Beginning with “The Family,” a sculpture acquired for The Woodlands’ grand opening in 1974 and continuing through the present day, the developer of The Woodlands has implemented a program to acquire works of outdoor art. Primarily cast in metal, the sculptures lend their massive and meaningful shapes to the visual imagery of The Woodlands.
