Hughes Landing on Lake Woodlands: A dynamic lifestyle intersection for all

by Lorrie Parise

Situated on Lake Woodlands, Hughes Landing is one of Houston’s premier mixed-use urban centers. You can find everything in this 66-acre area, including retail, dining, multifamily living at One Lakes Edge, Class A office space and an Embassy Suites by Hilton.  And don’t forget the entertainment. On many Thursday evenings, bands perform for The Woodlands’ seasonal Rock the Row concerts. You’ll also find people kayaking from Lakes Edge Boathouse, dog-lovers taking their pups out at Hughes Landing Dog Park and art-enthusiasts admiring Wind Waves, a spherical public art sculpture that was created by Yvonne Domenge, a renowned artist.

"Besides the office space and retailers, we spend a lot of time and effort on the public amenities from the boardwalk to wetlands, public art, a boathouse and a dog park. We want to ensure people have an exceptional experience when they visit Hughes Landing,” said Jim Carman, VP, MPC commercial development for The Howard Hughes Corporation®.

Hughes Landing is also brimming with retail. Hughes Landing Retail Row is located near Whole Foods Market. Blo Blow Dry Bar, opening this week; Fleet Feet Sports, opening early December; Focus Optical, opening early October; and Fred Astaire Dance Studio, opening mid-October will join 18|8 Fine Men’s Salons, Cadence Bank, Kriser’s Natural Pet, Norton Ditto and Pier 1 Imports®.

Retail is also situated on the ground level of One Lakes Edge luxury apartments. New retailers include Beauty Statement, which recently began construction; Broken Barrel, opening fourth quarter 2016; VOM FAS Oils & Vinegars, opening fourth quarter 2016; and L’Atelier de Beaute opening late October. They will join CUPS Frozen Yogurt, KB Casuals, Macaron by Patisse, Pure Barre, RIDE Indoor Cycling, Starbucks®, Venetian Nail Spa and Willa Boutique. Ivivva, founded by Lululemon athletica, recently celebrated its grand opening in Hughes Landing.

"We are proud of the great lineup of unique retailers we offer shoppers,” said Rip Reynolds, vice president, leasing and commercial land for The Howard Hughes Corporation. "We have a variety of national and local brands with different price points.”

Restaurant Row at Hughes Landing is also perfect for all appetites. The Blue Fish, California Pizza Kitchen, Del Frisco’s Grille, Esclanate’s Fine Tex-Mex, Fogo de Chão, Local Pour Gastropub and Truluck’s Seafood Steak & Crab House are open with patios overlooking the lake.

Five Class A office buildings are located within Hughes Landing with more planned.  Employees can easily access the amenities in Hughes Landing by foot or by a free shuttle that provides service during the lunch hours.

If you haven’t visited Hughes Landing off Hughes Landing Boulevard near Lake Woodlands Drive, it’s time to stop by!
